Flip Mino

I was listening to MacBreak weekly, and I heard Andy Ihnatko's review of the new Flip Mino video camera. I've been hearing about these Flip phones for quite awhile now, so I decided to check out the features.

The first thing to notice about the Flip Mino compared to the Flip Ultra, is that it is 40% smaller. I'm reading comparisons that the Mino is comparable in size to the Apple IPhone. The Mino comes with 2GB of flash memory which allows the recording of 60 minutes of VGA quality video. It also has a 1.5 inch screen for viewing and editing your videos and a built-in rechargable (lithium ion) battery that gives you four hours of battery life per charge.

The Flip Mino has the signature flip-out USB arm that lets you conveniently plug into any computer to edit and share your videos. The software allows you to upload your videos directly to sites like Youtube and Myspace. Plus it supports Macs out of the box, which is a plus for me.

Here one review of the Flip Mino I found on Youtube which shows you the kind of video-quality you can expect.

The Flip Mino retails for $179 on Amazon. All the reviews I've seen of this camera have been overwhelmingly positive. It just came out on June 4th which makes it the perfect Father's day gift. However, I think I might just have to get one for myself. =)
